Savannah CEO recently featured Henry Plumbing owner Todd Reed in a video interview discussing the company being named the 2023 Georgia Family Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration Georgia District.
The recognition was presented during National Small Business Week, which celebrates outstanding small businesses and business leaders across the country. During the Savannah CEO interview, Todd Reed reflected on what the award means to Henry Plumbing and the generations of family leadership behind the company’s success.
Founded in 1968 after Tonya Reed’s grandfather returned from military service, Henry Plumbing was built on a foundation of service to others through the plumbing industry. That same commitment continues today with multiple generations involved in the company, including fourth-generation family member Tanner Reed. Both Tonya’s grandfather and Tanner served in the military, continuing a family tradition centered around dedication, hard work, and service to the community.
In the interview, Todd Reed emphasized that Henry Plumbing’s success has always been about more than plumbing. He shared how the company has invested in employees, supported the greater Savannah community, and remained involved in nonprofit and business initiatives throughout the region.
Todd also discussed how organizations like the Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and SCORE helped guide the company through key stages of growth. Following the 2008-2009 economic downturn, Henry Plumbing participated in the GrowSmart program to better understand how to strategically grow and strengthen the business during changing economic conditions.
